KUALA LUMPUR: Suasana kelam-kabut di kawasan tanah runtuh di Taman Bukit Mewah dan Taman Bukit Utama, Bukit Antarabangsa awal hari ini turut menarik perhatian usahawan Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa untuk meninjau tempat kejadian.

Beliau yang tiba kira-kira 11 pagi bersama isterinya, penyanyi nombor satu negara Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin, berada di situ untuk membantu saudara terdekatnya, Hassan Saad, 49, yang merupakan salah seorang mangsa banglo runtuh dalam kejadian terbabit.

“Saya menerima panggilan telefon daripada saudara saya (Hassan) kira-kira pukul 3 pagi mengatakan rumahnya tertimbus dalam tanah runtuh.

“Sejurus selepas itu, saya bergegas ke tempat kejadian dan terkejut melihat tanah menggelongsor dari atas ke bawah dan menimbus banyak rumah,” katanya.

Khalid berkata, saudaranya itu kini menumpang sementara di rumah beliau yang terletak berdekatan dengan tempat kejadian.

Badlishah Hamzah, 45, pula berkata, beliau terkejut dengan kejadian tanah runtuh yang berlaku pagi ini.

“Anak saudara saya telefon kira-kira pukul 3.30 pagi dan menyuruh saya selamatkan beliau. Saya kemudian bergegas ke rumah anak saudara yang terletak di kawasan tanah runtuh tapi tak boleh masuk ke kawasan kejadian sebab polis dah tutup jalan,” katanya yang tinggal di kondominium Sinaran Ukay iaitu satu kilometer dari tempat kejadian.

Katanya anak saudaranya selamat dan tiga anggota keluarganya yang lain juga sempat menyelamatkan diri.

Norazlan Shazali, 30, pula yang tinggal di Kondominium Impian Selatan berkata, beliau terdengar bunyi loceng kecemasan di kondominium kirakira pukul 3.30 pagi.

“Masa tu dia saya baru hendak tidur tiba-tiba terdengar bunyi ‘alarm’ dan sejurus selepas itu bekalan elektrik terputus, lampu di luar kondo pun dah tak de,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, selepas bekalan elektrik terputus, penduduk kondominium yang panik bergegas keluar dan berkumpul di sekitar kawasan parkir kereta dan ketika itu beliau nampak ada dua atau tiga pokok mulai tumbang dari atas bukit ke bawah kawasan perumahan. Norazlan berkata, kira-kira pukul 9 pagi, kereta peronda polis datang dan mengarahkan penduduk sekitar kondominium mengosongkan tempat kejadian. BERNAMA

Tragedi Mas Stress & Mengamuk di Balai Polis Ampang

4/2/2009 - Berita tergempar, penyanyi kelahiran Akademi Fantasia 2 (AF2), Asma Ghani atau dikenali sebagai Mas yang berasal dari Sabah kini ditahan di Wad Neurologi, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) kerana mengalami tekanan jiwa. Ketua Pegawai Operasi Maestro Freddie Fernandez memaklumkan, Mas ditahan di hospital tersebut selepas mengamuk dan ditangkap di sebuah balai polis semalam

Kata Freddie: “Saya tak pasti sangat tentang sebab dia mengamuk di balai polis itu. Saya akan cuba membantu Mas untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang sedang dihadapinya. Saya harap semuanya akan berakhri dengan baik.”

Freddie akan melawat penyanyi dan pelakon kelahiran Tawau, Sabah itu di HKL pada pukul 1 petang esok.

Pihak Maestro akan mengadakan satu sidang media tergempar berkaitan dengan kes yang dialami oleh Mas. Dalam pada itu, sumber yang sahih mengatakan berita mengenai seorang bintang realiti mengamuk di Balai Polis Ampang heboh diperkatakan pada awal minggu ini.

Bintang realiti berstatus janda serta mempunyai anak itu mengamuk di balai polis gara-gara disaman selepas memandu tanpa lesen dan membuat pusingan U di tempat yang dilarang.

Mas memberi alasan kepada polis yang dia membuat pusingan semasa sedang bergaduh dengan kekasihnya namun polis tidak dapat menerima alasannya lalu dia mengamuk kepada polis, kata sumber itu.

ini merupakan kali kedua Mas membuat hal dan mengamuk di balai polis. Mas adalah ibu tunggal kepada Nurfadilah, 10, dan Mohd. Fadzil, 8.

Mas pernah memberitahu bahawa kehidupannya di Kuala Lumpur agak susah, kehabisan wang dan tertekan dengan ketiadaan show dan job. Nasib baik Azwan Ali ambil dia jadi orang gaji dalam Amboi Amboi Amboi. Pernah Mas berputus asa untuk pulang kembali ke Sabah untuk meneruskan bisnes satenya. Azwan Ali mesti sedang susah sebab orang gajinya sedang dalam kesusahan sekarang ni. Hehe…

Bandar Seri Begawan – Jaya Hypermart Centrepoint recently held a prize presentation ceremony for the winners of Guess and Win competition.

Participants were asked to guess the number of packets of noodles inside the giant mee pack. The champion for the competition was Ramli Mohamad who received $1,000 shopping voucher as well as 10 cartons of Indofood Mee Goreng.

Meanwhile, the second and third places went to Omar Hj Sirat and Chan Wing Hoe who received $500 shopping voucher and and $300 shopping voucher respectively as well as 10 cartons of Infofood Mee Goreng each.

Another 50 participants won the consolation prizes of five cartons of indofood Mee Goreng.

♥ Rains Trigger FlashFloods & Landslides ♥

Bandar Seri Begawan – Three days of heavy downpour in the country has brought misery to many people in three districts through flash floods and landslides. The worst hit is the Tutong District but Brunei-Muara and Belait are also not spared. The National Disaster Management Centre has been activated in the capital and so is the operation room in the Tutong District.

A spokesman said 60 calls were received from the public on floods and landslides. The Belait operation room has been put on alert as officials are assessing the situation. The Temburong District has not reported any weather related problems, the spokesman added.

People in affected areas need not worry as the situation is under control, NDMC said and added that problems have been identified in only a few areas. So far no evacuation orders have been issued.

The Fire and Rescue Department personnel have been kept busy since the last three days. In the capital, a landslide was reported in Kg Berangan. Advertisement

Though no one was hurt, it damaged two cars. Landslides were also reported in Kg Bengkurong and Kg Kilanas. The Kg Bengkurong landslide has led to officials closing a section of the road. Some of the affected areas in the capital include Kg Mentiri, Kampong Pasai, Jalan Ban 3, 4 and 5, Kampong Masin, Kampong Selayun, Kampong Batu Ampar, Kampong Wasan and Kampong Tanjung Bunut.

Flash floods have also been reported in areas like Kampong Sinaut, Kampong Layong, Kampong Bukit Udal, Mukim Rambai, Kijampong Batang Mitus and other areas in the Tutong Distrlct causing problems for drivers on the road. Some of the roads are even temporarily closed. Many areas where drainage facilities were overwhelmed by the continuous downpour are facing serious flooding with water levels in some places reaching as high as five feet. The Brunei Meteorological Service Unit said the wet weather is due to the country's current transition into the Northeast Monsoon, which is the wettest period of the year for the country.

The heavy rainfall received as of 8am yesterday morning stood at 144.4mm, which is quite typical for this month during the monsoon period. Statistics show that the average amount of rainfall during October over the last 15 years is over 300mm, with the highest recorded being 432mm.

The main cause of the gloomy weather stems from the presence of a small vortex or an area of active weather development located over the sea areas close to our country, said the Brunei Meteorological Service Unit.

The weather development has been further enhanced by the active Northern Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (NITCZ) passing through the country as seen on the satellite picture, showing extensive cloud cover across the region. The forecast for the next 24 hours shows unsettled weather with rain still expected, though the intensity is expected to vary.

The Meteorological Unit also said that the area of coverage might not be as extensive as yesterday, covering the whole sea and most parts of the land areas. Meanwhile, low-lying areas in New Village Seria have turned into a water village as the villagers' houses have been inundated and many roads and areas have been hit by flood waters.

Homes and businesses have been affected as New Village residents claimed that the rising waters from Badas River, which divides the New and Badas village, have further aggravated the situation. According to a resident, water from the Badas River overflowed its banks since 6am yesterday morning and the swollen river continued to flood most parts of the village in the afternoon as rains continued to lash several parts of the Belait District yesterday. Motorists also found it tough to negotiate their vehicles through flooded stretches of roads in the village.

Another resident said flood waters have not entered his home but the water stands at the same level as his house layout and another heavy rain might see water entering his house. Another resident, whose house has been damaged by the flood water, said this was the worst flooding she has seen in the history of the new village Seria and added that the Badas village used to face far worse flooding in the past. However, after the Badas village drainage system has been improved, the residents there are spared from the flood waters. She added that problems could be caused by the overflowing river and drains which could not cope with the volume of water.

Journey to Louis' Farm situated at Jln Tutong Mukim Sengkurong. It's about 20 mins drive from Bandar to Louis' farm. Fishing is open to the public at certain fee but the farm can only be entered with special permission by the owner Mr. Louis. The farm is good for educational visit where you can learn more about ostrich, emu, deers, crocodiles, etc. You can even purchase some vegetables and livestock such as chicken even ostrich's meat and egg. There are more than 1000 fresh water fish in the man-made pond.

Sunday- Love to spend my time at the beach so i went to Seri kenagan Beach in Tutong. The Beach is beautiful with lots of people picnicking. We brought some food cooked by the 'boss'. Here i took some shots of the scene:
